Yet Another slow news week. Though, expect some more official news over the next couple of months on what's happening at Scurvyliver Entertainment. Since the release of TNB - it's been a bit quiet around here, but hopefully you will hear some news soon that will change all that. Patience is the key... hehe

November 12th , 2003

Good news, a new forum (no adds, more functional!) has now been setup for this site. These forums should make life a lot easier so go check them out now! If you registered in the old forums, you will need to re-register, but trust me, its very much worth it! Cheers to Broomie for his great work!

November 4th , 2003

Well they may not be regular, but at 'least you can count on monthly updates around here! And yes, this update actually contains some substance!

The latest article by the mysterious 'Mr X' has now been posted. So if you are a fan of his unique and random ramblings check it out now. And if you have never read an article by him before.... be warned, but enjoy :) Mr X's Views on Fan Fiction.

The latest Ask Scurvy Question is also now up. Check it out in the Scurvy Tutes section.

October 10, 2003

Hey all. Sorry for the lack of updates lately. Though not much has been happening around Scurvyliver Entertainment, I have a few updates that will be surfacing over the next couple of weeks. So no, We are not dead just yet! :)

Until then, keep posting in the forums!

August 23th , 2003

A new feature of Scurvyliver Entertainment is now 'Ask Scurvy'. If you have a question (game making, our games or anything) send us a email here - and the questions will be answered on the site for all to view.

[Ask Scurvy]

The latest (and first) question submitted for 'Ask Scurvy' was by Eddite N.

Q:Are you guys going to make anymore games and what about game x did stop making or what?

A: At the moment we have several ideas in development. However time is the crucial thing that is stopping us from developing them further at the moment. I can assure you, Scurvyliver Entertainment will continue delivering free, quality games. Game X is another tricky one. Progress has been temporarily put on hold, but the game has not been terminated. Expect to see more towards the end of the year.

August 13th , 2003

Just in case you hadn't noticed, all the downloads have been back online for a couple of weeks now. So if you haven't played TNB go download now! And if you need help, the walkthroughs can also be downloaded under help!

Speaking of TNB, I stumbled across this really neat /kind review of the game over at "The Review Zone". To check it out(and you should), click here.

Scurvyliver Entertainment is proud to annouce it claimed two of the "2003 TNC Game Awards" for last years release of 'That Night Before'.

The two awards were in the catergories of 'Best Story' and the highly competitive field of 'Best Puzzles'. You can check out the awards for TNB and the other winners here.

ALSO, make sure you check out Mr X's third and latest article. It's titled 'The Final Ascendance - now in 3D' and you could find it very insightful....or disturbing...whatever makes you happy!

April 1st , 2003

A guy named Fernando emailed me recently about a new game he's released based around the old Lucasart classics. It's called 'MANIAC JACKSON AND THE MOONWALKING MINDBENDERS' and has a striking resemblance to the classic "Maniac Mansion" game.

"It features dozens of gags about Maniac Mansion and Zak McKracken, and it's about Michael Jackson's life!!"

If you're a fan of the 'ye-old' classics you should check it out here. Or download it directly from here!

A NEW and yet again puzzlingly-random article has been submitted by the mysterious author Mr X. This one is about mobile phones and should give you a bit of a chuckle. Check it out here! If you too want to submit an article, email me today!

TNB Act 4 has been released for just over a month now and so far feedback has been great! In fact Act 4 won The Daily Click Game of the week a few weeks back. Thanks to those who voted for it.

You can download the game right [ HERE ] and be sure to send me your feedback :) A walkthrough is now also available under the help section.

October 26th , 2002 - ACT 4 IS HERE!

Today is the day! Scurvyliver Entertainment is proud to release "That Night Before - Act 4". After nearly a year after act 3 was released, the final chapter of this game is now available for download!

Act 4 is the biggest of all chapters and should provide a good couple of hours of game play(Note: It took me 1 and a half hours last night playing the game straight through.)

So if you're in the mood for a good old-fashioned graphic adventure with humour, a twisty-story and 'explosive' ending, then this is for you! Oh, and make sure you sit through the end credits for the added bonus scenes...

Download the game right [ HERE ] and be sure to send me your feedback so I know if you loved or hated it! :) This is the first release, so if the game has any bugs, please report them immediately to scurvyliver@hotmail.com, Thanks!

October 17th , 2002

I may rue the day on this news post, but this time I'm announcing the final TNB release date. Yes due to several circumstances (work mainly, yes I don't make games for a living) Act 4 has been pushed back to next week. This should be a definite! Infact TNB has been finished for a couple of weeks now, it's just lacking some music which has been causing such a delay.

So hang on to your hats, as next week is final*(music or no music!!!). *Note: PLEASE DO NOT KILL ME INCASE SOME UNFORSEEN INCCIDENT HAPPENS...

OH, and if you can compose music(midi) tunes very quickly, please email me now and you will be rewarded greatly.

October 6th , 2002

As the pending release of TNB grows closer, Scurvyliver Entertainment would like to introduce some of the 'behind the scenes' people who are working on it. And to tell the truth, there are very few of them!

As you may be aware, the music in the first few acts of TNB was a collabatoration of various music pieces by several different artists. This time around, Act 4 will feature a more original soundtrack composed by the very talented Mark Lovegrove.

If you're familiar with Screen7 Entertainment, you will know what I'm talking about. Not only is he behind the production of several upcoming games, he has also produced a collection of very good music scores. So special thanks goes out to him!

September 29th , 2002

As this month comes to a close there is some good and bad news. The bad, I went away for a week and now the release of TNB has been pushed back to early october. The good? TNB is nearly finished and from all reports by the testers, the game needs very little changes. So expect the game within the first two weeks of October. Now's the time to sign-up to the 'Scurvyliver mailing list' to be informed first hand of its release.

If you can't wait that long, a new screenshot was released a few weeks ago here. And here's a few snaps of my week away for anyone at all interested in 'my world'.

Western Australia...nice eh?

This is the south west of Western Australia. If for some reason you want to see more full-sized images email me.

September 4th , 2002

It's now September and the good news is that the last installment of TNB is nearing competition. Infact the majority of the gameplay is now complete with the ending scenes now taking priority.

An early version of the game will soon be left in the hands of the 'testers' and hopefully the game should be available by the end of the month. Of course, to make it available sooner is the main objective. If you can't wait that long, a new screenshot was released last week here.

August 20th , 2002

Progress is slowly continuing on the latest(and last) act of 'That Night Before'. If all goes to plan, the game should hopefully be released before the end of September. In the meantime, a new screenshot has now been released for those that can't wait. Though if you want to keep the 'mystery' of the game in tact, don't CLICK HERE to view it. Yes, I took the liberty of not revealing the image on the main page to prevent spoilers.

August 2nd , 2002

In the last news post you may of noticed mention of a possible guest star for Act 4 of 'That Night Before'. Well that guest star was intended to be that of Dominic Armato (voice talent of Monkey Island's Guybrush Threepwood). Unfortunately though, this plan will not be going ahead.

Scurvyliver Entertainment did contact Dominic however, but due to union contract issues he was forced to decline. "I appreciate the offer, and I'd love to" he commented, "Union rules prevent me from working on any job that isn't a union contract."

The fact that the game was freeware didn't help the cause either. "if we're talking about a voice sample for a game, even a freeware one, the rules are pretty cut and dried. "

While this rules out possible voice work for the actor, there is still a chance you may see him appear somewhere in the game. Anyway, I just want to thank Dom for replying so quickly and being such a great guy over the issue! Cheers!

Ever wanted to know some useless information about Scurvyliver Entertainment? Well Fangames.co.uk recently conducted an interview revealing such details as well as info on the past and upcoming projects. Check it out here if you really wish.

On other news, Act 4 is making leaps and bounds in its development and some new screenshots may be revealed soon. Plans to try 'rope' in a special guest to make a cameo is also on the horizon, though nothing is concrete yet. More in the coming weeks...

June 25th , 2002

Two new screenshots are available for the new 3d project "Game-X". Click on the image below to view them. A runable 'teaser' for this game is also on its way very shortly.

On other news, The "That Night Before archive" has now been released. While this package doesn't consist of anything new, now you can download all chapters of the game (and a bonus demo of act 4) in one easy zip file. Download it now (4.9megs).

May 19th , 2002

Act 4 of Scurvyliver Entertainment's latest game "That Night Before", looks to be around a month and a bit away from being released.

This estimate is likely to change depending on how progress continues, but so far the game is coming along nicely. The reason for delay? The game is quite large and involves numerous new characters and locations that have to be created from scratch.(see the news section for more act4 info).Time has also proven to be something I haven't had much of, but I'm hoping to achieve more over the coming month.

On other news, look out for more screenshots of the new 3d project "Game-X" to be released very soon...

April 28th , 2002: Act 4 update

It's been a while for news on Scurvyliver Entertainment's latest game "That Night Before", so here is some info on the upcoming chapter.Act 4 teaser

Currently progress is slow, but expect the game to be longer then any of the previous chapters - and much more complex.

The game will feature several completely new locations (over a dozen new areas to examine), a bunch of new character to harass(with longer improved conversations) and plenty of new puzzly-goodness!

On other news, Scurvyliver Entertainment announced a new project, Game X. A screenshot and a link for more information is below.

April 21th , 2002

I don't always report news on other peoples games, but I have recieved information on a new Monkey Island fangame that looks very interesting. Return to Monkey Just a glimpseIsland is an unofficial game being developed by Revolution Productions.

Creator Julien Fenech describes the game as Monkey Island 4 "based upon the fans comments(likes and dislikes) of which the Lucasarts version did not have." For more information on this game, email Julien.

On other news, last week Scurvyliver Entertainment announced a new project, Game X. A screenshot and a link for more information is below.

April 11th , 2002: More To Game X

Earlier this week Scurvyliver Entertainment anounced "Game X" , the latest project being developed that this company is involved in. To keep you in suspense no further, more information and new screenshots have now been released. To find out more, click here.

On other news, a new Monkey Island based fangame is being developed (not by Scurvyliver Entertainment) and from word so far, should be pretty good. More information about this game will come very soon.

April 3rd , 2002

A new poll has been created about your favourite chapter of That Night Before. So be sure to vote as this may help shape the format of the slowly progressing act 4! *note: If poll isn't working, please be patient*

On other news, stay tuned to this site over the next few days as I will be releasing information on an exciting (and all new) project! More to come soon...

March 26th, 2002

So you thought the Oscars were huge! 'No' I hear you all saying... but anyway, now theres an awards ceremony for computer games! Thats right, voting for the '1st Annual Fangames.co.uk Awards' is now underway, and my game 'That Night Before' has been nominated in 4 catergories.

"Voting will carry on until 9PM(GMT) on Easter Sunday at which point votes will be counted and the winners will be sent a shiny award!"

So if you want to impress you're friends by telling them you are part of a 'voting academy', go here and vote in catergories 1-3 and also 5.

[ this weeks link ]

A new tutorial answer is available for adventure game developers out there. It provides information on how to change the look of the cursor in your game using TGF, MMF etc. So check it out (and others) here.

Also, I promised someone I would mention a link to their new website. It's called <RT Software> and you can check it out here.

March 10th, 2002

Welcome to the 'new look' Scurvyliver Entertainment. Personally I felt the old site needed a revamping - being just over a year old. The design hopefully looks a bit more polished then before, and now reflects the blue and white colours of the original Scurvyliver logo.

If you have any comments, feel free to share them in the forum or by email.

February 18th, 2002

A new screenshot for the up-coming act 4 has now been released (see below). In this chapter, Roy finds himself an unwilling participant in a good old fashion treasure hunt! Well kind of...

Progress on the new Act is coming along slowly and will not likely be available until at least a month. However, you can expect all new locations, characters and even more mind-bending puzzles! If you can't wait that long, a demo is available here if you haven't played it.

On other news, That Night Before has been nominated for Game of the Week over at The Daily Click. Feel free to vote for it if you wish.

February 13th, 2002

Whoo hoo! My normal server at Adventure Developer appears to be back! This should mean no more downtime, and no more geocities. The address is http://scurvy.adventuredeveloper.com/

Or just use www.scurvyliver.com.

Anyway, I found a cool web site last week. It's called The Daily Click and features a huge collection of amateur developed games. In fact, 'That Night Before' received over 200 downloads after only 4 days of submitting it! Cheers!

Next week: A new screenshot & details on act 4

January 18th, 2002: DEMO!

Well, due to popular demand, a demo is now available for the up-coming act 4 of That Night Before!!

The demo consists of the opening cutscene, as well as a couple of rooms and puzzles. However, it's only a demo - so it's not fully complete, but still very playable!

-> DOWNLOAD ACT 4 DEMO <- (500k)

Enjoy - and remember to give your feedback to me via my email or the forum! Cheers!

January 16th, 2002

There were a few rumours this week that 'act 4' of That Night Before had been cancelled. Well I just want to confirm these are not true - infact, a small demo of the game will be released very soon!

The demo will consist of the opening cutscene, as well as a couple of rooms and puzzles. It should be available to download within the next week, so look out for it!
