The Following are just a short selection of email feedback i recieved during my time working on FOMI. Thanks to everyone who emailed me, and I hope you don't mind being included here. --------------------------------------- The game developing brought us in a hi-tech era with better graphics, stereo surround music and state-of-the-art effects and you? You have done the miracle! You took the best adventure ever made and gave it a new life, because you brought to us what we, old adventures fans, searched in new adventure and never found: the semplicity, the friendliness, that sense of "being home again" that lacked for years! Thanx Scurvyliver....is a thanx enough? No, but the Grog is finished...bye! --------------------------------------- I've just finished your game. It's really nice. I liked it a lot. For a one-man-production, the result is cool! I especially liked the Elaine-Monkey. I also liked the scene wher Largo appears. And the ending scene is really cool "If I've learned one thing: Never pay anything for a fan-game." I also liked the scene that reminds of Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis (where the dead skeleton lies with the stone-plate in his hand). cu, LGH --------------------------------------- That rocked Scurvy - nice one. Pity it couldn't be longer and with more dialogue so you could have included more jokes. Is there gonna be a sequel? Furball. --------------------------------------- Hi Scurvyliver... I just finished playing your Monkey Island fan game, the Fate of Monkey Island and I would like to say congratulations. The game is excellent. The graphics are neat, and I like the way you incorparated old Monkey Island characters and scenery into it. It was funny how Guybrush showed up while in the hut. And the appearance of Largo leGrande was a surprise. Not to mention the snake and the girl monkey! Music was excellent as you remixed it. The puzzles and the arcade bits more complimented each other than hindered each other. It was at the right level of difficulty to fit in with the Monkey Island games. To be honest, I was a bit unsure about you putting in the arcade bits, but when I got going I liked them. It was also good, that keeping with the LucasArts way, you couldn't die in the game and have to restart. Back to the puzzles, I found them interesting. It took me three tries to stop myself from drowning in the piranha part. Then suddenly I thought "hey! Those are coconuts!". The puzzles were also good how they related to Monkey Island puzzles (eg snake) but weren't exactly similar. For example the puzzle of getting past the snake seemed to me like the dog puzzle (mi1) combined with the snake problem (cmi) with a bit extra thrown in. The way you had passwords was good as well. I liked the half skeleton at the end. There was only one problem I found with the game: it was too short!! BTW is there going to be a sequel?? So once again, congratulations on a super game. Zinny Badland (Lemongeek) PS) Nice website too. --------------------------------------- I thought id email u and say I thought your game was great. To say u used Games Factory its very good. The story's good and it sticks to the true MI theme. Are you thinking of doin a sequel. I thought about doin what youve done but I was using Visual Basic, I made a follow up but the files ended up been too big. Instead im using C to make a new adventure game. Anyway good game. --------------------------------------- You did it again! another great monkey island game! its better than the first & I love how you tied in stuff from star wars, sam and max, and day of the tentacle! E-mail me when the game is finished! THANX For giving me a fun, cool game that beats the 1st! SKYADD PS: What's the easter-egg? give me a clue (At least tell me where it is) SKYADD --------------------------------------- OK, I've completed the game by now! And what should I say? IT'S BRILLIANT! The engine is much better than last time, and the game is once again VERY funny. There are tons and tons of cool references to other LucasArts games. One of the most funny scenes is where you are inside the wishing fountain and where that guy from CMI (don't remember the name) says: "I wish this game were over!" GREAT Sam&Max reference. I also loved the Star Wars reference "At least we will reveal ourselves to the monkeys!" As a webmaster of iMuse Island, I also have to make you compliments about the use of music in the game. You have always chosen the right music for each scene and have done a great mixing job. Examples: - When you are in the cage, you used the jail-music from Phatt Island. That was exactly the music that had to use there. - I also noticed that the cross fire music at the beginning had exactly the length of the cutscene, so that it ended smoothly. That's a very cool detail. Really, once again I loved playing this game. It was almost as good as a Monkey Island game from LucasArts. It really had the right Monkey Island feeling!! Great game, waiting for parts 3 and 4! cu, LGH --------------------------------------- Hi! well, my name is "______", and im a big fan of mi i downloud your game, and i must say im very impress! its very very good. bealive me i loved it. --------------------------------------- Wow, those are 2 VERY great games, and I encourage you to continue making games. You have a talent for it, and I'd imagine that you could get pretty far with the skills. My question is: When is FOMI 2 going to be finished??? I had a great time with the first part, and I WANT MORE. Please respond! Thanks a lot! Jake M --------------------------------------- Hi im conrad i think your site is the best on the web. how come your not famous? i have downloaded both of your games and i am eagerly awaiting no.2 being finished and hopefully a third sequel. please could you email me back and inform me on any news. --------------------------------------- I think Your company's Monkey Island games are the best Fan games I've ever seen! I have downloaded FOMI 2 (part 1 and 2) and I can't wait for the next bits. (will you be able to write to me when they are ready for download?) I'm sorry to say that I couldn't download the first in the series, I've tried 3 times! (sorry another request!) Would you be able to Email it to me as an attachment? I love your work, keep it up cheers- How. P.S.- Please respond!!!!!!!!! --------------------------------------- AHOY THERE SCURVYLIVER Great Game man I was wondering what kind of software did you use makeing fate of monkey island 2. i know you used the games factory to make fate 1. Thanks for your time Captain Snugglecakes --------------------------------------- I'd just like to say that what you are doing is really excellent and that i love the monkey island series. I think your games are great to play and lucasarts should be talking to you. I get a bit depressed waiting for the next MI game to come out but TFOMI really helps. Ceral --------------------------------------- heyho! great stuff you made there..honestly..i hope that 2d-adventures never die and you did a mighty step in that direction!! in times of 3d multi-power-engine-crap its great to see people that fancy the good ol' adventures like mi 1-3(4?) and of course fate of mi1 and soon 2... just a question did you program that stuff yourself? or did you do everything with 'games factory?' if you did did you do it on 'c'? or what language?? a fan bye --------------------------------------- Dear Scurvyliver, Your games are really quite clever; I thought the LeChucky doll particularly funny. Thanks also for introducing me to a neat program; the Games Factory. I downloaded the trial version and intend to buy it! Sincerely, Jennifer F. --------------------------------------- Hi. I have just downloaded fate 1 and part 1 + 2 of fate 2 and they are the best monkey island fan games! All the others are not near as good. I like the bit with Guybrush appearing. Cool! I wondered if u would be able to e-mail me to let me know when the rest of fate 2 is available for download as i want to complete it as it is good. Thanks a lot and well done!! Daryl Love your game. Thanks for making it . Mark P.s. Want to make a third one ? --------------------------------------- Congratulations, the second game is 2 thousand times better than the first. Now the game really looks like a Monkey Island game. Expect the other levels are really big and the puzzles very hard. I want to know what programs you are using to make the game, cuz I want to make one. Marcelo --------------------------------------- Hello Is FOMI 2 finished yet. I already have FOMI and the first two parts of FOMI 2 and I really want to play the rest of the game. Please respond ASAP Craig M. --------------------------------------- Sweet game, man! I'm truly impressed. In fact, seeing your game really has inspired me to make my own. That's why I'm emailing you. How the heck did you do it? I'd really, really, love to know. Please reply and tell me. --------------------------------------- Hi. I loved the 'Fate of Monkey Island', and eagerly downloaded part 1 and 2 of the sequel, as soon as I had finished it. But I am curious as an orange, to know what program you are using to make 'Fomi: The return' with. Is it Games Factory? If so, then how come it doesn't say so when you quit? Sarah --------------------------------------- Hi there! I downloaded your Fate II game! Its brilliant! It really captures the look, feel and humor of the original games! I dl'd Fate I but it didnt work... but I will do it again. BTW what did you use to make it? It looks like a Klick & Play game, but I thought graphic adventrues were impossible (or at least VERY difficult to do in K&P) James --------------------------------------- I use the games factory too. That was a great game! how did you create such a good game using that program my game i have created is no were close as good. can you mabey help me in making better games? also how did you draw all the graphics thats one of my main problems is i can't draw too well and that i don't know how to do everything in the games factory. did you just sit and learn for hours or something before you made a game. One more thing how did you get so many people to go to your site? If you want to see my game it's at http://musd.mcn.org/~jkenyon/mygames It's an electronics game I made for my teacher(but i used mostly the music and graphics from the games factory). Also how come your game is only 2.5 megs and mine is 4.5 and mine is shorter. Jesse K --------------------------------------- I simply can't believe in my eyes... It was the one of the most beautiful games I have ever played. I know it was simple, it was short, but it's your game. I believe that you worked really hard for this game. I 'm waiting other games from you, and congratulate you for a great game like this beautiful game. Turhan K (I want to be aware of your other projects) I'm an adventur game fun, after a period without adventures, your game made me really HAPPY! --------------------------------------- FOMI 1 is cool. I loved the way you had so many references to the offcial Monkey games, it kept it feeling authentic. I reckon the best bit is the Idol Cave, esp. the way you use the stones, Fate of Atlantis style and Sternhart's body, also from that game. Well done. As I type this, I am downloading parts 1&2 of Fomi2. I can't wait to try it out. --------------------------------------- Aye ya scurvy... liver, Congratulations on your great work in Fate of Monkey Island 1 & 2 (at least parts 1 & 2 for know). Keep up the good work, I can't wait to see what happens in parts 3 & 4, and after that, perhaps FOMI 3... I would love to see that coming... Also I'm thinking of making my own monkey island fan game (I was kind of encouraged by FOMI) starring, perhaps, Elaine Marley. I'm thinking of making a game about what happened before Guybrush shows up on Melee Island... or how she finds Guybrush on Monkey Island during MK2. The problem is I need help. If you think my idea sounds interesting and/or you would like to help me out, I would really appreciate it. What I need most of all is an adventure engine so could you please tell me what you used to make FOMI 1&2 and whether I can download them online, or if I have to buy them. Maybe we can even make it together... Thanx for your time, help and most of all the fun you gave me by making FOMI 1 & 2. Dimitris --------------------------------------- Hello.. I just played your game "The Fate of Monkey Island"...Brilliant!! I also want to make my own games, but i donīt have the programs to make them.. --------------------------------------- LOVED IT!!!!!! CANT WAIT FOR 2!!!! David --------------------------------------- I thought both games were fun. I liked the references to the Monkey Island games. When are parts 3 & 4 coming out????? --------------------------------------- Wow it is probably one of the best user made games based on monkey island... good work.. What language was this game written in it flows very smoothly... is there any chance of me getting the source code to FOMI 2 or the engine for FOMI 2? I am also interested in how Fomi2.cca is packaged... Good Luck any chances of there being a FOMI 3 once FOMI 2 is done? --DCLXVI --------------------------------------- Dear Sir, First of all I would like to congratulate you for the games which you have made; namely The Fate of Monkey Island 1 & 2, which I enjoyed a lot whilst playing. Secondly, could you please tell me which software you used, besides The Games Factory, to make The Fate of Monkey Island 2? Waiting an answer from you as soon as possible. Regards, Julien --------------------------------------- There were many great changes from FOMI1 to its sequal, but the greatest was the familiar point and click interface as seen from MI1 and 2. I have tryed to create a point and click interface, but has failed to do so. My attempts at adventure games turn out with an interface like FOMI1. I know other game makers who face this nproblem as well. Is it possible you could post the FOMI2 demo in a way so that gamers who are struggling to create this kind of interface can open the game up from Games Factory (Or whatever Program you used) so we could use the engine you've created? --------------------------------------- Scurvyliver, FOMI and parts one and two of FOMI2 have been wonderful. I love the MI series, and I think what you've whipped up fits in perfectly. The stories are great, the humour is dead on, and as everyone knows, monkey are F*&%ing hilarious! I can't wait to see what parts three and four will show us. Keep it up, man, this stuff is great! -Rob --------------------------------------- I thank you deeply for making the FOMI games. I enjoied both of them very much and was devasted when Lucas Arts told you not to make them any more. Please do keep your site updated with Monkey Island news and please realse the SCUMM enigine you made it with. Thank you for greatly enhancing the greatest series of games on earth. Sincerly your greatest fan, Josiah Leis ------------------------------------------- Hi I've just recently downloaded your great games Fate of Monkey Island 1&2 and That Night Before. They're the best amateur-adventure games I've ever played! They're WAY better than Rob Blanc or Larry Vales(Just don't tell Yahtzee I said that,he scares me :-)) Fate of Monkey Island II was quite a surprise,I didn't expect such an original plot! Now I wish LucasArts had just let you make Part 4,I won't be able to sleep for weeks without knowing what hapens in the very end! I reckon The Night Before is bound to become an amateur-adventure-game classic! It has a truly original plot and such a brilliant cast of characters it's nearly on par with some proffesional efforts!I especially loved the Hugo-down-the-stump easter egg. I was also wondering if you'd like any help, and if so with what.I'm getting pretty good at drawing in Paintbrush.I can also do tons and tons of voices,so if you ever start making 'talkie' games let me know. Seeya Jared "Jazz" Hansen New South Wales,Australia ------------------------- I always want to call you Roy for some reason, hehe. Act 1 of TNB inspired me to work on my own point and click adventure game. Flame Critter ----------------- Anyway, Great Puzzles Great Graphics, Great Sound, and best of all, Great suspensful story! Can't wait for the next two parts! SKYADD -------- >Although I haven't beaten it yet the game is really awesome and >funny so far. I like the way you made that puzzle in the jail cell. > But I'm stuck. I stuck the cork in the nose of the skeleton head >on the wall... not sure what to do now. I guess I have to keep >looking. Anyway, can't wait for Act 3! --------- Scurvyliver has saved another of my weekends- had tons of fun with your game and cannot wait until the next act will be out there in the eternites of the internet : ). Thank you tons for a GREAT entertainment! Greetings from Germany, Rebecca. --- rina > >comments: I loved parts 1 and 2 and would like to know if there is a mailing list or something that will let me know when part 3 is coming out. >is there? >hope it's soon, i really liked it! >thanks. ---- Hi, mi name in Federico Scarcella, I'm from Argentina and a very fan of Monkey Island. I have the both games that you made about Monkey Island: The Fate Of Monkey Island 1 / 2 Too bad that Lucas Arts didn't allow you to continue your work. But the true reason of this message is that i want to traslate The Fate Of Monkey Island 1 / 2 to spanish, to my language! I know that you had a legal problem with Lucas Arts for this games, but they are two tremendous games and i want that my friends of hispanic speech can know them and play them in their language. Of course that I won't say that you gave me the files, although I believe that Lucas Arts won't bother anything of this I believe that they not even care at all. Well, thanks for your time, see you later! Pd: I hope that my English is good so that you can understand it. Federico. -------- I didn't think you could top FOMI, but you've done it! I've just finished Act 3 (With a rather predictable ending) and I loved it! You are an asset to the adventure gaming society and have contributed nearly enough :) Can't wait for the next project, let me know when it reaches your site, and good luck for the adventure-gaming future. Cheers, James Ellison (scabb) ------ Hi, I finished The Night Before and really enjoyed it. Thanx for that fantastic game! Greetz, Jonas ------------------- That night before is really a great adventure game with an interesting story. I`d like to see more of your great adventures. Oliver ---------------- 'MrJammy' comments: I am just writing to congratulate you on 'That Night Before'. A nice twisty plot, and some pretty impressive work. Amateur adventure games don't come much better than this. Well done. Oh, and Merry Christmas. -------- True Adventure Gamism... READ THIS Posted by DCLXVI 29a on 02/03/02 at 23:18 GMT Okay, Hero 6 has been around since 1999 and they have only released a few very basic demos .. 2 dialogs and the Waterfall (which doesn't even use MAD and is one scene w/ a really crappy script crashes when you use flowers on yourself). While mean time FOMI games were being released and were pretty cool ... and later shutdown by Lucas Arts which really seemed bad at the time. But TNB like totally rocked it was like total original... Hero6's plot is not 100% orginal it is too similar to QFG games (takes place in a valley and similar junk) I am sure it might be a cool game if it every gets released I mean 1999, 2000, 2001 with appox. 50 or more ppl working on it at any given time. Scurvyliver had the forsight to at least release TNB in parts. I mean Scurvyliver start TNB being one person using paintbrush and presenting a orginal idea. I mean the character animation is pretty smooth and stuff and the game is very entertaining (and fun to hack save games :]). I can almost put money on Hero 6 not being finished until 2003 or later... I think the Hero 6 team has missed the point of what true adventure games are about ... which is not flashy graphics or music tracks or riding the QFG fame.. but fun and original ideas which is what TNB is all about. True Adventure Gasmism --DCLXVI 29a Spug comments: I downloaded Act 1 of That Night Before off from The Daily Click recently, and wow, is that game great?Yes it is! I finished it today, and well, I just love the story line, all the twists from other adventure games, all the things to do, everything. Please, submit Act 2 and Act 3 of TNB to Daily Click as well! As many people as possible must play these great games. I just downloaded Act 2 & 3... let's see if they're as good as Act 1 :-) Thanks again!Spug hi mate, my names hugh. i've played tnb 1,2and3. all i can say is WOW!!! the graphics are excellent, brillent story lines and puzzels. why have u not been taken up by a company i dont no. you obviously have a talent. maby you should try to get on lucas arts good side i'm sure they can see your talent. but the big question on mine and many other peoples lips is WHEN IS ACT 4 COMMING OUT? i have played the demo, and it looks like its gonna b a hit like all the others. is there gonna be any more sequels?? i hope so!!! keep up the good work. tnb is definatly the best amuature game i have ever played, well done! --------------------- >Hi, I recently downloaded act 1, 2, and 3 yesterday for your game. I >wanted to say they are awesome!! But I need help if you will. On act >3, I've gotten the foam hand, gotten the clothes , got the lady at >the salon to leave, and found pete in the locker. I have no idea >what to do next. I can't beat the guys at rock paper scissors, and I >can't get a wig. Please help me! > ---------------- comments: Fantastic adventure games, all 3 of them. Thank you for designing a wonderful game and then distributing it freely to us adventure addicts. Your work is very smart and I'm currently stumped in Act III looking for a credit card. Thanks again! --------------- Aims comments: Hello! I played all three TNB acts a while ago and I think they are probably the best freeware games I've ever seen. They're funny and clever and I liked them a lot. But I wanted to tell you, I only found your website by accident, because I was looking for adventure type games. How come TNB isn't listed with other adventure games at freeware sites like download.com or freeze.com? I know people go there all the time looking for free games, and half the things they have aren't nearly as good as yours. I know if TNB was available at those sites, people would love it. Anyway, keep up the good work.
